Description
Classic Ford Taunus deLuxe.
The Ford Taunus G93A was a car of the lower middle class, which the Ford Works Cologne produced from 1939 to 1942 as a successor to the model Eifel. 1948, the model was reissued as Ford Taunus G73A and manufactured until 1952. The shape of his body with humpback tail, which distinguishes him from all other Taunus models, earned him the nickname "Buckeltaunus" still used today.
In May 1950 Ford introduced the Taunus Special, which featured a four-speed gear change controlled with a column-mounted lever. Externally the “Special” made extensive use of chrome, notably on an enlarged front grill and on the bumpers. The rear window was enlarged and flashing-light direction indicators replaced semaphore-style flippers.
In 1951 the "de luxe" version of the Buckeltaunus was introduced. Visually, this new variant was distinguished by a new one-piece windscreen, and by indicators integrated in the radiator grille. A new hood ornament and taillights, the turn signals and brake lights in a housing summarized, were signs of the new luxury model. An even better interior, on request with a radio and an "air conditioning" (the then common term for heating), represented the mid-size car.
I photographed the car in 2017 during the Bielefeld annual car show LA STRADA CLASSIC. For illustration as a poster I created a digital background texture and added the caption.
